Werner's butcher shop in the south of Cologne and cement tiles from Mosáico — Open, rustic brick walls, behind the counter a wall of Carrara marble, walls and slate-look signs, old cast iron supports, historical photographs and hand-cast cement tiles by Mosáico on the floor: On Severinstraße in Cologne, built back in Roman times, one of the four Cologne branches of Werner's Metzgerei.
With his motto “Simple as before”, master butcher Klaus Werner emphasizes that he produces his meat and sausage specialties “according to old father's custom” using the best, traditional craftsmanship.

Good reasons for cement tiles
Historic ambiance reflects the history of the house and the company. The building not far from the mighty Severinstorburg dates back to 1877. At that time, Cologne had already grown beyond the medieval city wall, and representative town houses were built everywhere.
Klaus Werner opted for cement tiles in black and ivory, which are manufactured using old craftsmanship. With that, he wants to...
- pay tribute to the history of the Wilhelminian house
- Take up the style of Cologne's Südstadt
- remember the parent business in Siegburg, Bergisches (it is also located in a historic building)
- underline the traditional craftsmanship of his company
It must be cement tiles!
For Klaus Werner, this was clear from the start — although it involved some additional work. Cement tiles are slightly higher than usual porcelain tiles. But the boss did everything he could to create a special atmosphere: The old floor had to be completely torn out — otherwise the door would not have opened. Klaus Werner is particularly proud that he was able to implement his plans without a shop builder, but with a top team of tilers and carpenters.

Historic ambiance — modern standard
It was worth it — customers, employees and the owner himself enjoy the beautiful nostalgic decor day after day. It is just as high-quality as the meat and sausage specialties. The technical equipment is, of course, up to date.
A sense of tradition and quality is thus combined to form a popular destination for hungry people from southern Germany and tourists. Regardless of whether you want to buy a hot meat roll, the best rib-eye steak, kite rock grill, Bavarian white sausage or Italian fennel salami: Customers at Werner's Metzgerei have Mosáico cement tiles at their feet — everything here is the best craftsmanship!
