Right at the Eifelwall stop in the south of Cologne is the pretty Südlicht Café & Shop, which is run by Sarah Hoven-Lambertz and her husband Niko Lambertz. It opened in November 2017, before that, the location was lovingly renovated and very harmoniously furnished. The soft colors, the quiet atmosphere and the very friendly owners invite you to relax with a cup of coffee and a piece of homemade cake.
Sarah wanted to change her career and becoming self-employed was already a long-cherished dream, but the former store manager had the idea of opening her own café more or less spontaneously when she visited the premises. A café run by a friend also confirmed her decision.
With great commitment, a very individual, harmonious and cozy café has been created, which welcomes its guests with delicious cakes and pastries, fair trade coffee and a small lunch table.
Almost all products come from local retailers and producers, which is important to Sarah and Niko — conserving resources, eating, living and consuming consciously describes the guiding philosophy of the Southern Lights. Just like the adjoining shop, which offers beautiful things for the home from Scandinavia, the Netherlands and Germany.
This awareness of quality and the environment was also an important point that led to Mosáico cement tiles. When they came across our website through Internet research, they were all the more pleased that a local company could also be won over as a partner here and works with mostly natural raw materials.
With the large selection of different shapes, colors and patterns, the competent and friendly advice in the showroom in Cologne from our employee Mrs. Karatas was very helpful. Sarah and Niko chose hexagonal tiles (hexagonal tiles) in various shades of gray, which should be placed in the kitchen area and the bar in the café. Sarah and Niko laid out the pattern and moved the tiles many times until their perfect pattern was created, which they photographed and had tilers install. Thanks to the unstraight tile transition to the wooden floor, they have succeeded in creating a very special eye-catcher.
We can't help but suggest that you pay a visit to the Südlicht Café & Shop at Eifelwall 56 in Cologne. The passion with which this café and shop are run is unusual and definitely worth a visit. If you're curious, you can go to facebook enjoy more impressions.
