Behind the façade are six small historic houses, which have been harmoniously combined to form a modern hotel.
Middle ages and modernity on the Moselle — The Moselle is much more than just a river: an idyllic landscape with romantic forests, vineyards rising up to the sky and plenty of sunshine. On the steep slopes to the left and right of the river, the wonderful thrives riesling. Even the ancient Romans appreciated the fine wines made from these grapes. The sun and the heat-storing slate soil characterize its unique, fruity, sparkling bouquet.
Shaping traditions in a contemporary way
Hospitality has always been very popular on the Moselle. This is also the case with the large Lipmann family. Already in the eighth generation — for over two centuries — the well-being of visitors from near and far has been close to her heart. One of their hospitable houses is located in the beautiful Beilstein.
The hand-cast cement tiles underline the historic ambiance of the house
In 2000, the Lipmann family combined four neighboring small buildings on the medieval city wall to form a restaurant. Just this year, two more houses were added — Kristina Lipmann and Christoph Conrad have been running the Hotel-Restaurant Alte Stadtmauer. Behind the common façade, guests are greeted with the latest comforts and Delicacies from the kitchen and cellar spoiled.
It's pretty cozy here! All furniture is exclusive custom-made — such as the Mosáico cement tiles!
Cement tiles — a bridge between the Middle Ages and Modernity
The restaurant is inspired by the elegant atmosphere: a successful mix of modern elegance and reminders of the tradition of the house and the family. All furniture and windows in the house were designed and manufactured by local companies for the Hotel-Restaurant Alte Stadtmauer in Beilstein/Mosel. Mosáico supplied the cement tiles for the restaurant floor. They form the bridge to the medieval city wall, of which an original preserved wall can be seen in the restaurant.
They are called “New Castle” individually cast by hand, which, like the bezels (reference number 482), come from our factory in Marrakesh. The choice of colors was deliberately made for ivory, burgundy, eggplant and khaki — they correspond to the typical classic cement tile colors. In this way, they underline the discreet, historic ambiance of the restaurant and corridor.
In summer, wild wine provides pleasant shade — and supplies the grapes for fresh, homemade juice
Enjoy with a view of the Moselle
Hikers, cyclists and locals stop off at the restaurant on the Moselle and enjoy typical Moselle Franconian dishes such as sweet and sour pork cheeks with fried potatoes or broad beans. The menu also includes modern dishes, such as trout carpaccio on slate stone or small tapas with wine, served in style on a barrel stave.
The Lipmann-Conrad family warmly welcomes you!
In the warm season, coffee, ice cream and cake are served on the terrace covered with wild wine with a view of the Moselle. Kristina Lipmann uses the ripe grapes to make her aromatic wine jelly for hotel guests — and fresh grape juice, which she serves only a few days a year. They did it that way before. And it should stay that way for the next 200 years — at least!
